Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

First Degree Child Abuse Suspect Arrested
 
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Anthony Verner of Temple Hills, MD who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Child Abuse First Degree that was obtained by Prince George’s County Police on June 19, 2015.

According to the warrant, on November 5, 2014, Verner was in the 6000 block of Gifford Lane in Temple Hills, MD where he is alleged to have abused a child causing severe physical injury that necessitated hospitalization.

On July 27th, Deputies went to the residence and Verner was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (DOC) for processing.

Verner is also charged with Child Abuse Second Degree (2x) and Second Degree Assault.

First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Alexis Staton of Capitol Heights, MD, on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by the County Police on August 4, 2015.

According to the warrant, on July 31, in the 7000 block of Onyx Court in Capitol Heights, MD, Staton allegedly poured hot grits on a male victim while he slept. When the victim jumped out of bed, Staton struck him in the head with a baseball bat. The warrant states that the victim walked out of the home with burns to his body and with his head bleeding.

Upon receiving the warrant, Deputies located Staton at the address of the incident. They were granted access to the residence where they identified Staton. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections (DOC) in Hyattsville, Md for processing.

Staton is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.
