DVID Deputies Rescue a Mother and her Children from an overturned vehicle

Domestic Violence Intervention Deputies (DVID) from Squad 30 came to the aid of a mother and her small children early Thursday Morning after they were trapped inside of an overturned vehicle on Maryland Route 202 in Cheverly, MD.

Corporal Terry Hooper, Deputy First Class Adrian Curtis, Deputy Dominick Chambers and Deputy Daryl Humphries came upon the flipped vehicle which came to rest on the driver’s side. The deputies immediately rushed to rescue the family; ultimately breaking the rear window and sunroof to remove the mother and her children from the vehicle.
Members of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded and transported the victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Our daily encounters with people are often challenging because we come in contact with them during sometimes challenging and unfortunate circumstances in their lives. Knowing that the family is fine after rescuing this mother and her children is great work and a great outcome. Of all the work we do, none is better than this,” said Captain Ron Terry, Assistant Bureau Chief Field Operations, Domestic Violence Intervention Division.
