Sheriff’s Deputy Involved in Shooting after Responding to 911 Call

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a deputy-involved shooting early this morning, at a residence in the 2300 block of Houston Street, in Suitland, MD. The shooting occurred at approximately 1:00 am, after Deputies arrived at the residence in response to a 911 call for a domestic disturbance with a gun.

The Deputies were in the residence speaking with the female victim when the male suspect appeared at the front door and confronted them. Information developed at this time indicates one of the Deputies discharged his agency issued firearm, striking the deceased. He was transported to The Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he was pronounced deceased around 6:00 a.m.

Consistent with standard procedure, the Prince George’s County Police Department is conducting an investigation into the shooting; the Sheriff’s Policy Compliance Division is conducting a concurrent administrative investigation. The involved deputy is a four year veteran assigned to the Domestic Violence Intervention Division. The Deputy involved has been placed on routine Administrative Leave pending further investigation.

Information regarding the involved deputy will be released on October 24, 2014. Information regarding the deceased will be released pending next of kin notification.
